MEET THE TEAM
Owner and Dance Teacher
Miss Jayne has danced since the age of 4 in the Atlas Works building, where JF Dance Works is based. After training in modern jazz, ballet and tap, Miss Jayne continued her love for dancing by completing a BA Hons Degree in Dance. 3 years ago, she achieved her BTDA Dance Teaching Certificate in Modern Jazz and 2 years ago received a PGCE in Primary Teaching. She has a huge amount of experience teaching modern dance as this is her 6th year of teaching the Modern Jazz and Tap syllabus of British Theatre (BTDA). Furthermore, Miss Jayne has taught dance all around Cumbria in many different schools working with school curriculum based dance, dance clubs and working towards dance festivals held in the county.
At the moment Miss Jayne teaches in a local primary school full time whilst putting her energy when she is not at school into her ever-growing Dance School, JF Dance Works.
Miss Jayne holds a great passion for dance and understands that it is important to not only develop skills but have fun and build enjoyment within the classes.
CLASSES WE OFFER
Embrace Your Love of Dance
PREPARATORY AND PRIMARY
Our youngest classes begin for children who have started school aged 4+. These fantastic classes are an exciting introduction to modern and tap where they learn basic technique through fun and creative lessons. Miss Jayne is committed to showing every child attention and helping them understand the basic steps they will need and develop throughout their dance education. We’re happy to answer any questions you have about these classes and how to begin your child’s enjoyment for dance!
Our graded classes show progression through the different levels continuing to follow British Theatre Dance Association (BTDA). Within these classes, children have the opportunity to learn and develop their modern and tap skills, continue to strengthen their technique whilst learning fun dances with input from children. There are many opportunities for the children to showcase their talent as we hold graded examinations, medal award sessions and a yearly show. If you are interested for your child to join a small friendly dance school then contact Miss Jayne and she will answer any questions you have.
Our Free Jazz class is a favourite among many of our older students. This class is for pupils who have completed all Graded examinations and are now on vocational exams however we are more than happy to accept new comers who can dance and work at this level. Within these classes we concentrate on increasing technique, flexibility and work hard on extending our performance skills. At the moment, we don't do tap at this level, but if this something you are interested in then please get in touch! Our Free Jazz classes are open to students who are Year 10 and above and are looking to dance for fun, fitness or as a hobby. Want more information? Give us a call!
